The wait is over! Today, FIRST officially unveiled the theme for the 2025-2026 FIRST LEGO League season, and it’s time to get our hands dirty. Get ready to dig deep and explore the mysteries hidden beneath our feet with the new challenge: UNEARTH! This exciting announcement marks the start of a new adventure for thousands of young innovators around the world.
What Will You Unearth with FIRST LEGO League?
This year’s UNEARTH theme invites students to tackle real-world challenges related to archaeology, geology, and paleontology. Whether your child is in the introductory Discover program (ages 4-6), the hands-on Explore division (ages 6-10), or the advanced Challenge division (ages 9-16), they’ll be using LEGOs and technology to design creative solutions. Imagine them building robots to excavate ancient artifacts or developing projects to identify precious minerals!
More Than Just Robots
While the whirring motors and colorful bricks are a huge draw, the true magic of this robotics competition lies in the skills kids develop. Participants learn invaluable lessons in teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience when their robot doesn’t work on the first (or tenth!) try. They build confidence by presenting their research and ideas to judges, learning skills that go far beyond the competition mat. The program is built on a foundation of Core Values that emphasize discovery, innovation, and fun.
Feeling inspired? Now is the perfect time to channel that excitement into action. Look for robotics workshops or camps to get a head start. You can learn more about the season, forming a team, or finding an existing one by visiting the official FIRST website.
Help your child unearth their potential in the amazing world of STEM and robotics today!
